Buttercream Frosting (American) - Cooking For Engineers

I’m on the hunt for a buttercream frosting that DOES NOT use confectioners sugar.  I find c. sugar to be bitter, even though you can mask the bitter taste of the cornstarch with other ingredients.
This frosting uses regular sugar and got rave reviews:
